After launching the Nokia 5 in India in June, and then finally making it available to buy in August, HMD Global on Monday announced a new 3GB RAM variant of the smartphone for the country. To recall, the original variant featured 2GB of RAM, and was priced at Rs. 12,499. The company recently made headlines in the country with the global launch of the Nokia 2here. The cheapest Android smartphone from HMD Global yet, the Nokia 2 will be available to buy in India from mid-November, the company said.

Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant price in India is Rs. 13,499 ('best buy' price). The smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart for one week starting Tuesday, November 7. The online retailer is currently listing a Jio-Nokia Additional Data offer on the smartphone, promising 5GB of extra 4G data on every recharge of Rs. 309 or above, limited to 10 recharges till August 31, 2018.
After this online exclusivity period, on November 14, the Nokia 5 will become available to buy via select retail outlets across the country. The variant will be stocked in Matte Black and Tempered Blue colour, HMD Global said in an emailed statement. To recall, the original had been launched in Copper and Silver colours additionally.

Apart from RAM, the Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant is identical to the original 2GB RAM model. To refresh on the Nokia 5 specifications, the dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with a promised upgrade to Android Oreo. It sports a 5.2-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
The Nokia 5 bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field-of-view. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).
Connectivity options on the Nokia 5 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio with RDS, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery that's non-removable, and measures 149.7x72.5x8.05 excluding the camera bump - which takes it up to 8.55mm.
