Data War continued

Data at Rs. 199 to Take on Free Jio Calls

Vodafone is taking on Jio's free calls with the new Rs. 199 prepaid pack

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The offer is only available in Delhi-NCR circle
  • There are daily and weekly caps to the bundled calls
  • Vodafone is providing 1GB data for the entire 28-day period
The entry of Reliance Jio in the telecom sector last year upended how the industry works, with data at rates lower than ever before and calls becoming completely free. Incumbent operators like Airtel and Vodafone soon responded with data-heavy plans at tariffs competitive with those of Jio. Now is the turn of voice calls as Vodafone has come up with a new plan for Delhi-NCR circle that provides bundled calls and data. This prepaid recharge plan to rival Jio comes within days of Aircel launching a Rs. 104 packthat lowers call tariff to 20 paisa per minute for 365 days.
The new Vodafone plan is priced at Rs. 199 and comes with bundled calls and provides 1GB data with validity of 28 days. The local and STD calls are capped at a maximum of 250 minutes of free calls in a day and 1,000 minutes in a week. If the user exhausts this limit, they will be charged at 30 paisa per minute for subsequent calls.
Best Plans With 1GB Data Per Day, Unlimited Calls
Vodafone also says in its Terms & Conditions that users cannot make calls to more than 300 unique numbers in a 7-day period. If they breach the 300-people mark, all calls will be charged at 30 paisa per minute for the remaining validity.
Like other incumbents, Vodafone has been launching new offers to keep Jio at its toes. It recently updated its Rs. 348 plan to provide customers bundled calls and 1.5GB data per day, up from 1GB daily, for 28 days. In fact, Airtel and Idea Cellular also have 1.5GB data allocation plans under Rs. 350 nowadays.
