Suzuki Motorcycles India has launched its 155 cc cruiser motorcycle, the Intruder at a price of Rs. 98,340 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Intruder uses the engine and the underpinnings of the popular Suzuki Gixxer but of course, it does get a few changes, apart from the design.

Highlights

  • The Suzuki Intruder has the same underpinnings as the Gixxer
  • It shares the engine and some components with the Gixxer
  • The Intruder 150 will be going up against the Bajaj Avenger Street 150
Suzuki Motorcycles India entered the 150 cc cruiser motorcycle segment in India by launching the Intruder and has priced it at Rs. 98,340 (ex-showroom Delhi). Not to be mistaken with the Intruder M1800, which is a 1,800 cc behemoth, this one is a 155 cc model, which uses the same engine and underpinnings as the highly popular Suzuki Gixxer. The Intruder, no doubt, has been inspired by the bigger Intruder M 1800. The Suzuki boffins have tried to create the same bulky look as the Intruder's bigger sibling. The looks can divide opinion, but like it or not, you cannot ignore it for sure. Suzuki Motorcycles India's research says that there is pretty good demand for affordable 150 cc cruisers and hence, the Intruder saw the light of the day.

The Intruder does get its cruiser scheme of things right. The footpegs are set forward which give a relaxed riding position and the overall design too, is that of a typical cruiser. The fuel tank gets massive shrouds to add muscle and there are a lot of body panels on the side and at the rear as well.

As we mentioned earlier, the underpinnings of the Intruder have been borrowed from the Gixxer, but Suzuki says that the bike, in essence, is all-new. The 155cc, singe-cylinder engine is carburetted, for now, and remains the same as the Gixxer. It makes 14 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. There are a few underlying changes though. The gear ratios are different and the intake and the air box are bigger in size when compared to the Gixxer. The exhaust too is a different unit than that of the Gixxer. Thanks to the body panels and the changes in the engine, the Intruder weighs 8 kg more than the Gixxer at 148 kg. The claimed fuel efficiency figure for the Intruder is 44 kmpl.

Suzuki says that currently, India is the biggest market for the company and the coming to the Intruder specifically; the 155 cc cruiser bike will be made in India and be exported to many markets across the world.
At a price of Rs. 98340, the Intruder about Rs. 18,340 more expensive than its only rival in the segment, the Bajaj Avenger Street 150, priced at Rs. 80,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The biggest deal in health care industry

What the CVS-Aetna deal means for the future of health care When drug company chief executive Heather Bresch was hauled in front of Congress last year to defend the high price of lifesaving EpiPens, she drew skeptical lawmakers' attention to a large poster board that blamed the skyrocketing price tag on a coterie of drug supply chain middlemen. Of EpiPen's $608 list price, her company, Mylan, received only $274, Bresch said. "What the patient is paying is not . . . coming back to Mylan," Bresch said. "And when we were speaking earlier of the people, the middlemen in the system, that's either the pharmacy benefit managers, retailers, wholesalers, insurers." That supply chain — rarely seen by most consumers — is the center of attention in the corporate world after CVS Health announced a $69 billion deal to buy Aetna, the nation's third-largest insurer. Familiar as a corner drugstore, CVS Health actually makes most of its money from one of t

H-1B extension is now more difficult trump tightened walls again

Trump admin makes it more difficult for H-1B visa extension USCIS said the previous memorandum of April 23, 2004 appeared to place this burden on this federal agency. In a new directive, the Trump administration has made it more difficult for the renewal of non-immigrant visas such as H-1B and L1, popular among Indian IT professionals, saying that the burden of proof lies on the applicant even when an extension is sought.  Rescinding its more than 13-year-old policy, the  US Citizenship and Immigration Services  (  USCIS ) said that the burden of proof in establishing eligibility is, at all times, on the petitioner.  USCIS said the previous memorandum of April 23, 2004 appeared to place this burden on this federal agency.  "This memorandum makes it clear that the burden of proof remains on the petitioner, even where an extension of non- immigrant status is sought," USCIS said in its latest memorandum issued on October 23.   Under the previous policy, i
